Earthtwine® is suitable for use in commercial flower growing to provide support for tall growing flowers like orchids’ stems or to train the flower spikes for upright growth.
For flowers grown in greenhouses, Earthtwine® INDOOR twine is ideal. The twine is simply tied around the stem and a stake or attached to a stake using a stem clip. By periodically adjusting the tension, the plant can be supported without damaging the stem.
Earthtwine® INDOOR twine is strong enough to support large blooms like peonies, but soft enough not to damage flower stems. For very large blooms, an upper and lower loop around the plant may be needed. The twine loops can be easily attached to a stake using a stem clip.
When used for corralling, it is important to pull the twine taut (but not tight) keeping the stems upright. This will support the weight of the bloom, without damaging the stem. It is particularly important if blooms are not under cover and exposure to rain or wind can cause them to sag.

Earthtwine® OUTDOOR twine

For flowers grown outside in an open field or nursery setup, Earthtwine® INDOOR twine can be used to support tall growing stems from an overhead wire. To corral plants that will be kept outside for multiple seasons, Earthtwine® OUTDOOR twine offers more support if environmental conditions tend to be more challenging.

Earthtwine® twine in use

In addition to our compostable twine options, we also have compostable clips to complete the set up. Using both a compostable twine and compostable clips, mean that there is no need to retrieve clips from the material going into compost. Everything can be composted together.
Earthvine® compostable stem clips are used to attach the twine to the stem.
