For commercial greenhouse cultivation of tomatoes, the high-wire system is the global standard. It requires single-stem training on twine with a lean-and-lower layering to ensure continuous cycles of production for extended harvests.
Growing tomatoes in this manner has several benefits including improved disease management and minimising rot, pest pressure and fruit damage.
Earthtwine® INDOOR twine is ideal for supporting tomatoes in greenhouse growing setups and using Earthtwine® pre-wound on hooks can make the stringing and layering process even more efficient.

Earthtwine® INDOOR twine and Clips
In addition to our compostable twine options, we also have compostable clips to complete the set up. Using both a compostable twine and compostable clips, mean that there is no need to retrieve clips from the material going into compost. Everything can be composted together.
Earthvine® compostable stem clips are used to attach the twine to the stem.
Earthvine® compostable truss clips are used to support the truss under the growing weight of the tomatoes. This prevents the vine from kinking or snapping, so that nutrients can continue to flow to the developing truss.
